Nothing says "NEW INTERIOR" like painting your walls in a fresh new hue.

Todays article is going to help you through the actual process of painting a feature wall, while speaking the Lebanese painters language. These guys have their own words. To communicate with them you need to know these words, by heart!

Before i start, let me highlight on the importance of buying quality paint. The end result will differ depending on whether you've gone good quality or cheap.

DEE'S TIPS ON HOW TO PAINT A FEATURE WALL WHILE SPEAKING THE "LEBANESE PAINTER" TERMS

1. Choosing the paint

To choose your paint, you need to know the nature of the wall you are painting.

If the wall is made from metal or wood, the paint to choose is oil based paint, AKA "boya". This paint must be mixed with some thinner, AKA "nafet".

If the wall is a normal plaster wall, the paint to choose is water based paint, AKA "taresh". This paint must be mixed with some water. Every "galon" must be mixed with 1Liter of water.

2. Choosing the color

Before choosing the color you want to paint your feature wall, you should decide what you want this wall to achieve, and what feeling you want it to give you. This will guide your choice.

2. The preparation

The most important thing about painting is the preparation. A good preparation will give you a good, professional and clean result.

To prepare, floors must be covered with plastic bags, and the skirtings must be covered using paper scotch.

After doing this and mixing the paint, you have to paint the corners and door frames using a thin paint brush, because these are the spots the roller can't reach. Doing this is AKA "t2atte3 l zaweya".

3. Painting the wall

Undercoat may be needed, depending on the color chosen, and the color of the existing wall.

After done with the preparation, it's time to paint! To paint, a roller, AKA "rouleau" is needed. Try to pick a good quality one.

The first thing to do is dip the roller in the bucket of paint and start your first attempt on the wall. This is AKA "tes2ol". It's the fact of painting the wall well.

The second thing to do is to check for unpainted spots, AKA as "haramiyye", and paint over them again before it's dry. This is AKA "tfa2ed".
