Over the past year or so, Architecture, Interiors, Photography, Fashion and all that we call art has become eco-friendly.
The entire concept or idea behind this trend is getting closer to nature and more involved and awared of its importance of preservance. It's about taking our mother Earth to a whole new level and embracing greens. It's about blending exteriors with interiors, letting what is Out come In.
And i am not only talking about the introduction of plants and pots. This trend has gone to whole new level, with patterns, paint colors and eco-friendly materials.
The idea is best translated with dark painted walls as shown above, and the layering of different plant varieties and dark green leaves, keeping in mind the no flowers allowed rule.
This look will create a visual and relaxing interest.
For those who are not friends with dark walls, you can take this trend to another level using other industrial materials, such as brick walls, and metallic surfaces.
BOTANICAL INTERIORS IN LEBANON DURING BEIRUT DESIGN WEEK 015
Beside using real plants, some have taken this trend and translated it through patterns, wallpapers and accessories.
After my visit to LIZA BEIRUT during Beirut Design Week 015 (BDW015), i experienced a new botanical interior translation in one part of the restaurant -The use of botanical patterned wallpapers, green wooden cabinets, chaff lighting fixtures and jewel tone accessories, in addition to botanic patterned bowls and plates. Another highlight of Beirut Design Week 015, was the green wall designed and executed by KahwetLeila in Gemmayzeh. The concept was blending food with design, where they took design to a whole new level.
This Green Wall was executed by Joseph Barakat Architects and Kahwet Leilas staff .
The wall was 18m long and it took 12 consecutive hours to make out of greens. All greens were donated to NGOs the next day.
Personally, this was my favorite design at BDW015.
