HOW TO MAKE YOUR SPACE FEEL LARGER

A small room is a small room. No one can change this fact. But there are some ideas to make your space feel larger and make use of your space to the fullest.

Rule number one, that everyone talks about is the white wall dilemma. Personally, i find this effective, but not my favorite to go with. There are many other fun and creative ways to make your space feel more spacious. Here are some:

Go Up

The size of your space might be limited, but there are many way to create more interest. The best way the tight width of a room is to draw the eye UP. The best way to do this is with an art painting from vivid and flashy colors to create a wow moment and make everyone forget about the scale of the room.

Choose to hang one large vertical painting, or a series of medium sized framed directed upwards in one line.

A big NO to bulky furniture

Bulky furniture is the ennemy of small and narrow spaces. Forget the wide arms, the bulky wooden chairs and tables.

The best choice you can make is choose furniture your eyes can see through.

Armless chairs are a good choice, and the lower the coffee table is ... the better.

Glass tables and chairs are a very good choice too because transparency will make your eye moving through them.

Another good choice of furniture is fold up chairs and tables, and multifunctional pieces will work wonders too.

Choose modest colors

Colors play a big part in the way a space feels.

As mentioned before in my post, white makes the space feel larger. But for all those who think white is a stereotype color, i recommend cool colors like light blue or light green. Your room will look bigger and spacious with these wall colors.

My favorite wall colors are hues of grey. They are basic, classy and give you a wide choice to play with any furniture colors.

But you should always keep in mind this rule: limit your colors to not more than three. The best idea is a monochromatic sheme.

Limit your textures

The game of textures is tricky. The combination of different textures needs to be in perfect harmony.

To make a room look big, you need to limit your textures.

The reason for this is because the more textures you have in a space, the cozier and warmer the feeling.

So choose your pieces carefully, and limit yourself to not more than three textures.

Light Up you space

Mirrors can do magic in small narrowed rooms !

But what concerns me is the placement of the mirror. You should always position it in a way so it reflects something nice from the outside world. For example facing a window.

In addition, shiny surfaces like metallics are a great idea too, because they reflect light in the room.
